The Truth About Happiness

It's Not What You Think

This randomly popped up in my Instagram feed the other day, and stopped me in my tracks...

[Check out this reel] ๐ŸŽฅ

"Happiness isn't a byproduct of ease...it's a byproduct of struggle, intensity, consistency, discipline, and doing hard things on a regular basis."

Wow. This hit differently.

It perfectly describes my journey from a stressed-out mortgage broker to starting my own digital business...

The Happiness Misconception

We often think happiness will come when everything gets "easier":

๐Ÿ“Œ When we finally make enough money

๐Ÿ“Œ When work settles down

๐Ÿ“Œ When we have more time

I used to think that too. Even when I co-owned a 7-figure mortgage business, I kept waiting for that magical moment when everything would feel... easier.

But true happiness?

It came from making the hard decision to change.

From pushing through the uncertainty of learning something new.

From the discipline of taking action to learn new skills while others were still making excuses of why they couldn't...

The real satisfaction wasn't in the "arrival" - it was in proving to myself I could do hard things.

That I could create genuine freedom on my own terms...

Yes, it took consistency. Yes, it meant carving out the time to learn new skills. โ€ฆand yes, some days were challenging.

But here's what I know now: The struggle of staying stuck in a life that's suffocating you is far harder than the temporary discomfort of creating change.

3 WAYS TO EMBRACE MEANINGFUL STRUGGLE

  1. Identify Your "Right" Struggle

Take 10 minutes today to answer these questions:

What challenging path keeps calling to you?

What would you attempt if you knew temporary discomfort was the only real obstacle?

What struggle in your current situation is draining rather than fulfilling?

Action Step: Write down one change you've been avoiding because it seems "too hard" but could lead to greater fulfillment.

2. Create a Consistency System

The key to making hard things easier is consistency:

Start small: Commit to 20 minutes daily toward your new path

Stack habits: Attach your new action to an existing habit

Track visibly: Use a calendar to mark each day you follow through

3. Build Your Resilience Muscle

Happiness through struggle requires resilience:

Document small wins to reference when motivation dips.

Expect setbacks and plan your response in advance.

Join a community of others embracing similar challenges.

TAKE THE FIRST STEP

If you're feeling that pull toward something different right now, remember this:

The path to true fulfillment isn't about avoiding struggle - it's about choosing the right struggle.

Because often times in life the hard choice is the right choice.
