What's On Your Wall?

The science-backed trick I use to stay on track every day.

When I first started my online business, I read somewhere that most digital entrepreneurs get an email when they make a sale.

I thought, “That’s cool.”
But then I took it one step further.

I printed it out.

That one perfect sale - the kind I wanted more of - now lives on my vision board.

Every morning, I see it. Not as a dream, but as a reminder:

This is already possible.

This already happened.

More of this is coming.

Next to it? Things like…

📌 A picture of a beach in the Maldives (crazy enough we just booked this trip and leave soon!)

📌 Happy photos spending time with my favorite people and furry friends - because having more time to spend with those I love is a big part of my ‘why’

📌 A quote that grounds me whenever I forget why I started

📌 And yes, even a number I want to see in my bank account

It might look like a Pinterest collage, but it’s actually a roadmap.

A visual anchor for the life I’m building - one choice, one habit, one uncomfortable leap at a time.

“But isn’t that just woo-woo?”

I get it. The word vision board might bring to mind magazine cutouts and manifestation mantras.

But here’s what most people miss:
This isn’t about magic. It’s about focus.

A 2011 study published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology found that visualizing the process of achieving your goals (not just the end result) significantly improved follow-through and performance.

In other words, it’s not just the dream.
It’s how often you see the dream that shapes your behavior.

The science behind why this works

Here’s what’s actually going on in your brain:

Your vision board doesn’t just motivate you - it programs your subconscious to work toward what you’ve told it is important.

This happens through something called the Reticular Activating System (RAS) - a bundle of nerves in your brainstem that acts like a filter between your conscious and subconscious mind.

Once you consistently focus on something (like an image of the life you want), your RAS starts scanning the world for opportunities, connections, and patterns that support that outcome. It brings you ideas, people, and decisions that align - almost like subconscious problem-solving in the background.

You’re not just staring at images.

You’re embedding intentions into your subconscious.

And from there?

You start acting differently.

Choosing differently.

Believing differently.

That’s how a vision turns into a result.

Even Olympians use this.

Michael Phelps famously visualized every detail of his races - the water, the sounds, the setbacks - in advance. His coach said it was one of his secret weapons.

Jim Carrey? He wrote himself a $10 million check for “acting services rendered,” dated it for 5 years in the future. He kept it in his wallet. By 1995, he got exactly that amount for Dumb and Dumber.

It’s not about wishing.

It’s about repeatedly reminding yourself what matters - so you can act in alignment with it.

Here’s the truth:

If you don’t give your brain a compelling picture of where you’re going, it will default to what’s safe.

And “safe” usually means:

– scrolling instead of creating
– doubting instead of doing
– quitting when it gets hard

A vision board isn’t fluff. It’s focus fuel.

It says:

This is where I’m heading.
This is worth the risk.
This is bigger than the fear I’m feeling today.

How to start yours

Don’t overthink it.

You don’t need glitter pens and corkboards.

Grab a piece of paper. Open Canva. Use your phone’s wallpaper.

Just make it visual - and make it yours.

Ask yourself:

  • What kind of sale do I want to make more of?

  • What kind of days do I want to have more of?

  • What kind of people do I want around me?

  • What does time freedom look like for me?

Then put it somewhere you’ll see it every day.

Because the life you want won’t build itself.

But it will start with a clear picture.

One you choose to stare at - every morning - until it becomes real.
