Upgrade Your Money Lens
These 4 stages shape your income, growth, and freedom.
A couple months ago I broke down the four money mindsets that silently control our financial decisions. But here's what I didn't tell you then:
These mindsets aren't just fixed categories we can be stuck in - they can also be evolutionary stages we move through as new business owners.
And trust me, I've experienced ALL of them firsthand.
The Entrepreneurial Money Mindset Journey
Stage 1: The Survival Phase (Scarcity Mindset)
When most of us start out in business, we're operating from scarcity. Let's be real - this isn't a character flaw, it's where almost everyone begins.
You focus intensely on cash flow and runway
Every expense feels like a potential threat
You DIY everything because "hiring costs too much"
You hesitate to invest in growth opportunities, (i.e., "I'll invest in a those ads, that course, that coach - once I'm making $X")
This stage actually serves a purpose. It forces you to get scrappy and creative. But staying here too long is the fastest way to burnout, and the best way to end up with a business that's permanently stuck in the starting blocks.
Stage 2: The Stability Phase (Fixed Mindset)
Once you've achieved some initial success, you might settle into patterns that feel safe:
You develop rigid ideas about what works and what doesn't
You become resistant to new financial strategies (like your pricing, platforms, etc.)
You think, "This is just how business works in my industry"
You compare yourself to others and think, "I'll never reach their level"
The stability phase feels comfortable but deceptive. It's the plateau where many businesses stagnate.
Stage 3: The Scaling Phase (Growth Mindset)
The breakthrough comes when you start seeing every financial challenge as a puzzle to solve:
You actively seek education and mentorship
You view setbacks as valuable data points
You experiment with different revenue models
You're willing to be temporarily uncomfortable for long-term gains
This is where business owners begin to transcend their initial limitations. You're no longer just running a business - you're building a system.
Stage 4: The Significance Phase (Abundance Mindset)
The final evolution happens when you stop seeing money as the goal and start seeing it as a tool for impact:
You make decisions on offers based on solving real problems for your customers, not just because they'll sell
You think in terms of ecosystems rather than transactions
You invest in team training even when there's no immediate ROI because you're building for the long-term
You recognize that wealth compounds through collaboration
This is where true wealth and fulfillment converge. Your business becomes a vehicle for transformation - for yourself, your team, and your customers.
Where Are You in Your Evolution?
The fascinating truth is that most business owners operate from different mindsets in different areas simultaneously. You might have:
An abundance mindset about client acquisition
A growth mindset about marketing
A fixed mindset about pricing
A scarcity mindset about hiring
My Personal Evolution
When I started my first business in 2015, I was deeply rooted in scarcity.
When my business partner said we needed to each invest $25,000, my immediate thought was, "There's no way I can afford that."
But something pushed me to ask a different question: "How could I make this happen?"
That single question - moving from fixed to growth - changed everything.
Within seven years, these shifts in thinking helped me:
Co-build a 7-figure business
Eliminate my substantial student loan debt
Develop a rental property portfolio
Become mortgage-free before 40

The good news is our money mindsets can transform quite quickly with the right questions. Here are some game-changers that helped me level up:
To move from Scarcity to Fixed:
"What if I reframed this $2,000 course as an investment rather than an expense?"
"If I knew this Facebook ad spend would bring in 3x returns, would I still hesitate?"
"What's the REAL cost of trying to figure everything out on my own instead of hiring a coach?"
"Am I saying 'I can't afford it' when what I really mean is 'I'm afraid it won't work'?"
To move from Fixed to Growth:
"Which successful digital entrepreneurs started exactly where I am right now?"
"What if my 'failed' ad campaign wasn't a failure but the exact data I needed?"
"Which marketing skill, if I mastered it, would completely transform my customer acquisition?"
"What limiting belief about money is keeping me playing small in my industry?"
To move from Growth to Abundance:
"How could I create a pricing model where my success is directly tied to my clients' success?"
"What would change if I focused on creating massive value first, then let the money follow?"
"How could I create partnerships or collaborations with others in my industry instead of seeing everyone as competition?"
"What if I built my business model around circulation rather than accumulation?"
This Week's Money Mindset Evolution Challenge ✨
I want you to try something that might feel uncomfortable (that's how you know it's working!):
Identify ONE specific money decision in your business where you're playing it safe
Write down the ACTUAL fear behind your hesitation (be brutally honest!)
Ask yourself: "What would I do if I were operating from the next mindset level?"
Take that action BEFORE you open my next email
Don't expect this evolution to be a straight line. We can ALL slip back into scarcity during tough times.
The difference is how quickly you recognize it and shift back. Progress > Perfection!
Hey, I really want to know: Which stage of the money mindset evolution are you in right now? And what's ONE action you're taking this week to level up?
